Make me New

“Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.”

I’ve begged and cried to You
I’ve pleaded with You, too.
I’ve spend many sleepless nights
Asking You to please just change me, fix me
I am broken and unusable, but You.
You are powerful; You the redeemer
You created me, You walk with me
“You have always been my helper.” *
I’ve spent my life questioning “why me?”
But the answer has always been You.
When I saw no way, You had already gone through
When I trusted you (I thought blindly, though I can clearly see),
Out of my broken heart came your perfect love.
I know it was You who placed it there.
You are the only one who could’ve
My broken heart left on its own only produces selfish idols
But You. “The sacrifice You desire is a broken spirit.
You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.” **
I come to You broken, begging You to reject me
But You said You loved me. Always have, always will.
I committed to trusting You, following You however uneasy
Somehow You answered my initial prayer, too, because
Everyday I see more of You and less of me.

God, never let me get in the way.

God, I've Messed Up

Lord, I know I could never be perfect. I know I could not earn my salvation. I am saved by your grace and mercy alone. Forgive me, O Lord.
